Project Description
STRONGER is a multi-year, multi-country programme tackling gender-based violence and child, early and forced marriage through community-led development — from the community level through to institutional uptake.
About the programme:
Led by ADRA, STRONGER works across Kenya, the Philippines, and Cambodia to prevent and respond to gender-based violence (GBV) and child, early and forced marriage (CEFM). Rather than delivering pre-set interventions, the programme supports communities to identify and address the drivers of GBV themselves — analysing their own challenges, setting their own priorities, planning action, advocating, and monitoring change over time. It works at two levels at once: with communities leading their own development, and with the institutions and sector actors around them — including in health and GBV services — adopting more community-led, accountable ways of working. The programme runs over [seven years / multiple years — confirm], reaching communities that in some cases had little prior access to basic services.
Salanga’s role:
Salanga is STRONGER’s technical partner for localization and M&E. We guide each in-country partner through the full integration of Colmeal — our community-led development methodology — over the life of the programme, from first pilot communities through to scale, and onward into institutional adoption at the sector level. Our role is to coach: building each partner’s capacity so that communities lead their own change, and so the approach outlasts the programme.
