1. Training Fee

What does the training fee cover?

The training fee covers complete training package (trainers, training materials, all training activities).
Training fee also covers travel from the meeting point to the training venue. The meeting point and time in the Czech Republic shall be communicated to all participants upon registration and payment of the fee. See more information on the travel you can find in Training Location section of the FAQ.
Training fee does not cover accommodation (adequate to the training purpose), meals (some vegetarian and gluten free options can be available on a request) and refreshments (adequate to the training agenda and purpose).

How can I pay the training fee?

Based on your online registration to the training, Salanga will issue an invoice. Invoice can be paid by an online payment (using major credit cards) or a wire transfer to our account. Please note that the training fee must be received as soon as possible and has to be received by Salanga at least two weeks prior the start of the training.

You will be asked to pay the total fee – the training fee + accommodation/meals.

In case you will register but not pay the training fee by given date, we are unable to hold your spot, as there may be other people on a waiting list.

Is there a possibility to reduce or wave off the fee?

If you register for our training before specified date, you will pay a reduced price of 20%, otherwise standard fee applies.
As Salanga we are aware that building security awareness is crucial, and not all organizations or individuals may be able to cover the full price of the training. In such case, please, contact us to discuss possibilities for reduced training fee.

What is the refund policy?

For registrations cancelled more than fifteen days (15 days) prior a training start date, administrative charges will apply. Applicants will be entitled to a refund of 80% of the total training fee.

For bookings cancelled three to fifteen days (3-15 days) before a training begins, 25% of the total training fee will be refunded.

For bookings cancelled less than three days (3 days) before a training, or after a course has started, no refund will be provided.

The refund must be claimed within 45 days from the cancelled training start date.

Salanga will unfortunately not cover recipient’s bank charges once refund is made. Refunds may take up to 30 days.

Training activities will be organized in various outdoor and indoor locations (e.g. former military base). Specific location of the training venue and the meeting point will be shared with registered participants in an email communication.

How can I get to and from the training venue?

We recommend flying in to Prague or Krakow airport from where we will navigate you to a meeting point from where all the participants will be transported together to the training venue. Participants will get information about time and the meeting point in the Czech Republic upon their registration and payment of the fee.

3. Training content & participants' safety

Can I receive an agenda beforehand?

The HEAT training covers a wide range of topics, as specified on the salanga.org/heat webpage. Unfortunately, we cannot provide the detailed training agenda in advance, in order to ensure the simulations and experience of each of the participants are as real as possible, and thus that no expectations are formed. However, agenda overview will be shared with registered participants.

If you have any further doubt about the agenda or a specific topic and its coverage, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@salanga.org.

Can I or my organization request specific topics?

We generally try to adjust each course to specific training participants; however, our ability to integrate new topic is limited. Salanga provides specific tailored-made training to several organizations. HEAT training which is open to public has general list of topics that covers essential areas required for the hostile environment.

If you require specific topic not covered, or if you’d like to focus and drill certain type of topics, please, do get in touch with us, to discuss possibilities how to ensure your needs are met.

How exactly realistic simulations look like?

We create our simulations as realistic as possible, while putting participants safety and security first. That means that within the years of experience with organizing HEAT, we strove to find the right balance so that participants can learn, apply and experience life-saving behaviors through different stages of real-life scenarios while maintaining safe learning environment at all times.

Can I participate with some physical mental limitations?

We welcome participants with physical or mental inabilities, as in a reality, NGO may have team members with such limitations in the field and we should know how to react be the one with the limitation or having a team member with the inability.

On the other hand, we need to know ahead of the time, in case you have certain limitations, and based on a consultation with our psychologist and training then determine the possibility of your participation based on the knowing the agenda.

Can I participate when I am pregnant or possibly pregnant?

Unfortunately, if you are pregnant or you have indication that you may be pregnant, we DO NOT recommend your participation in the HEAT training. During the training, we use some of the pyrotechnical devices and imitations that are generally safe; HOWEVER may interrupt or otherwise harm the pregnancy.

Is it safe?

We take all the precautions that we can in order to ensure that the training is safe for everybody. Our team is present at all of the crucial moments of the training, and there is also a psychologist present to ensure we cover both the physical and psychological well-being of the participants. On the other hand, be it a preparation for a hostile and high-risk environment, the training will demand certain physical and mental strength and will from the participants to finish the training.

Should I bring anything specific with me?

The training will take place indoors and outdoors, thus you will be expected to bring adequate equipment. A list with recommended items will be send out once registration is done and fee is paid.

Please, do get in touch with us if you have any questions upon receiving the list of items or if you need a consultation to info@salanga.org.

Do I get any reading material at some point?

Salanga does not provide any powerpoint slides. But we will hand out different cards with key messages related to various topics. We will also offer a 3 month email refresher with a small survey and key messages to be sent to those interested, to refresh security information you will have learnt during the training.

We also offer a one month of free security consultations to all participants once the HEAT training is over, as sometimes it may take a bit of a while to absorb all of the newly gained information and new questions may arise.

4. Training logistics

What will I eat, where will I stay?

We will provide food and accommodation adequate to the training program. Please note that our accommodation and meals are simple, but sufficient. Providing simple accommodation allow us to maintain affordable course fee.

Also, once registering to our HEAT training, you will receive further information, to ensure you have all that you need for the training.

How many participants will be in the training?

We accept a maximum of 24 participants, as throughout the years we came to a conclusion that this is the maximum of participants where we can ensure that the participants take as much as they can from the training and we do not have to compromise on their individual experience .

During certain activities we also split the participants into smaller teams which allows exploring the ability to work as a team and realize how individual’s behavior affects the team’s safety and security as well how the team functions.

Is there a team work expected during the HEAT training?

Some activities require splitting up the participants into teams, which allows for better experience but mainly for learning how to behave as a team, and realize how my behavior as an individual can reflect on and affect the safety and security of my team members.

Can a team of co-workers apply for the HEAT?

We use teamwork during the training. Thus if a group of co-workers apply, they can create a team during the training, to see how they work together, realize what strengths and challenges they face as a team, and learn how to improve their work together. The training is very intensive thus gives space for getting to know each other better and for building trust within the team.

Will I receive a certificate for participation?

Yes, you will receive a printed and soft copy of the certificate upon successful training completion.
