Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CLARE) — IDRC & FCDO
Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CLARE) — FCDO & IDRC. Designed the monitoring, evaluation and learning (MEL) framework and tools for this major UK–Canada climate-resilience research initiative.
CLARE is a major UK–Canada research CAD180-million initiative, jointly funded and run by the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO) and Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC). It supports socially inclusive, locally led action to build resilience to climate change and natural hazards across Africa and the Asia-Pacific.
CLARE (CLimate Adaptation and REsilience) is a flagship UK–Canada framework research programme. It is jointly designed and run by the United Kingdom’s Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) and Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC). Funding is mostly (about 90%) UK Aid through FCDO, co-funded by IDRC
CLARE aims to enable socially inclusive and sustainable action to build resilience to climate change and natural hazards in Africa and Asia-Pacific, and works by bridging critical gaps between science and action by championing Southern leadership. Through research, it delivers knowledge, data, and tools that focus on tackling real-world barriers to adapting to climate change and managing risks from natural hazards, particularly for the poor and vulnerable across Africa and Asia Pacific.
Salanga’s Role
Salanga guided the design of the Logframe, the data collection methodology, tools, and results framework for this major climate adaptation and resilience initiative, developed its broader MEL framework, and supported implementation of the MEL Systems, including coaching grantees to strengthen their own monitoring, evaluation, and learning.
